Location: Vacaville, California

A 400 acre commercial/industrial park bound by I-80, I-505 and Vaca Valley Business Park. The park is now home to Kaiser Permanente and the Genentech Corporation. Engineering services included preparation of master plans, surveys, tentative/final maps, plans for the design of street widening for Vaca Valley Parkway, interior collector streets and public infrastructure (sanitary sewer, potable and non-potable water, storm drainage plans and joint trench composites); preparation of a sanitary sewer line capacity study and construction administration; complete property project management including hiring and coordinating of all consultants on the project.

Swenson Business Park
Location: San Jose, California

A 70 acre industrial park. Engineering services included plans for building site improvements (grading, sanitary sewer, water and storm drainage plans) and public street frontage improvements for Ridder Park Drive, Fox Lane and Old Oakland Road. The project also included the design of off-site drainage, a sanitary sewer pump station and force main, boundary and topographic survey, utility relocation, construction coordination, construction staking and acquisition assessment district proceedings.

Location: Fremont, California

A 50 acre industrial park. Engineering services included the preparation of plans for site improvements (grading, sanitary sewer, water and storm drainage plans), public street frontage improvements, rezoning, preparation of site master plan, boundary and topography, assessment district proceeding, construction staking and construction administration.

Interchange Business Park
Location: Vacaville, California

A 120 acre commercial/industrial park. Engineering services included preparation of surveys, tentative/final maps, assessment district engineering, plans for the design of interior collector streets, public infrastructure (sanitary sewer, potable and non-potable water, storm drainage plans and joint trench composites), the relocation/under grounding of a 35 cfs irrigation canal, culvert design for a 600 cfs creek crossing; preparation of a sanitary sewer line capacity study and construction administration.

Milpitas Industrial Park
Location: Milpitas, California

A 43 acre industrial park on South Milpitas Boulevard. The industrial park was financed by special assessment district proceedings. Engineering services included preparation of master plans, topography survey, tentative and final maps, plans for public street improvements for frontage streets (including the design of street and utility crossing of the San Francisco Water Department's Hetch-Hetchy Canal), assessment district proceedings and construction staking.

Northpoint Industrial Park
Location: Fremont, California

A 95 acre industrial park at the Cushing Road/I-880 interchange. Engineering services included the preparation of boundary and topography surveys, annexation map, tentative and final map, precise Caltrans right-of-way plan study, public improvement plans for Cushing Road (designed to meet the future alignment and drainage considerations for the I-880 off-ramp), onsite grading, drainage and utility plans.

Fairfield Home and Garden Center
Location: Fairfield, California

An 18 acre Target/Home Depot shopping center. The center provided 231,000 square feet of retail. Engineering services included plans for a 1,000+ stall parking lot, the undergrounding and relocation of an 83 cfs Caltrans drainage ditch, building site improvements (grading, sanitary sewer, water and storm drainage); preparation of boundary and processing of parcel maps to merger and resubdivide multiple parcels including Caltrans right-of-way, and construction administration.

Fairfield Gateway
Fairfield, California

An 18 acre retail shopping center. The center provided 198,000 square feet of retail with anchor tenants Toys R Us, Marshalls and Good Guys. Engineering services included plans for a 900+ stall parking lot, the undergrounding and relocation of a 40 cfs drainage ditch, building site improvements (grading, sanitary sewer, water and storm drainage); preparation of boundary and processing of a multi-lot parcel map.

Fairfield Gateway Courtyard
Fairfield, California

This project involved the master planning and design of a 17 acre commercial center across from the Solano Mall in Fairfield to develop a 12-building commercial site. The center provides 227,400 square feet of retail, restaurants and a 150-unit Hilton Garden Inn. Engineering services included plans for a 1,000+ stall parking lot, building site improvements (grading, sanitary sewer, water and storm drainage); and processing of parcel maps to merger and resubdivide multiple parcels.

Solano Mall
Location: Fairfield, California

This 150 acre site is part of the City of Fairfield redevelopment. It includes the primary Solano Mall project and several special use parcels surrounding it. These include the Gateway Development of the Good Guys, Toys R Us, Marshalls and Travis Federal Credit Union facilities, as well as the Kaiser Hospital complex, Circuit City, several restaurants and a major hotel and convention center site.

We have provided various services over the years as this project has developed beginning in 1978. To date, these services have included topographical mapping, master grading and drainage plans, specific site layout, parking and access and circulation elements, construction staking and major arterial roadway design of Gateway Boulevard.

This project also included working with the landscape architect for the landscaping plans for Gateway Boulevard and Travis Boulevard and Pennsylvania Avenue roadway on the north, south and east sides of the mall. We have also provided several mapping studies and parcel maps. Work also included structural design of retaining walls and parking areas.

Some of this work was performed directly for the City of Fairfield to assist them in the development of the project. Other work was performed for private developers, such as Gateway for their area of the complex, or for Hahn for the main mall project area.

Kohl's Department Store
Location: Salinas, California

The Kohl’s site included approximately 7.23 acres with an 88,248-square foot building. The scope of work included all site work necessary to attain permits for the construction of the project. C+D coordinated with various local and state officials to determine all codes, design and construction standards, zoning requirements, storm water runoff requirements, and roadway improvement requirements under which the site would be designed; prepared a complete dimensioned site layout plan including all property lines, roadways, building layouts, curbs, parking layouts, etc.; prepared complete construction plans and specifications including Grading, Drainage, and Erosion Control Plans; and designed Post-construction Low Impact Development BMP’s (bio swales) in addition to the installation of standard interceptor products as a result of recent water quality requirements imposed by the SWRCB.

Travis Mini Storage
Location: Fairfield, California

A 4.75 acre public storage site. This project consisted of the development of 93,500 square feet of one story garaged units. Engineering services included grading, drainage, utilities, plans and specifications. The project included the design of a 42" storm drain pipe line for the undergrounding of an existing ditch that bisected the property. Our work entailed the processing of a Corp of Engineers, Fish & Game permit; Water Quality certification waiver and a consent agreement with PG&E for the development of the site.

Ceres Mini Storage
Location: Ceres, California

A 1.8 acre public storage site. This project consisted of the development of 41,000 square feet of one story garaged units. Engineering services included grading, drainage, utilities, plans and specifications. The project included the design and relocation of a 16" irrigation line that bisected the property. Our work also included the design of total retention of the 10 year storm and the design of a 120 gallon onsite fire storage reservoir.

Hines Nursery Allendale
Location: Solano County, California

Work was performed in several phases to develop a primary nursery facility in the Allendale area. Initial work consisted of 50 acres with a reclamation pond for recovery of irrigation water. At Phase II, 37 acres were added and are in full operation. Currently in Phase III, 185 acres have been acquired, the first 16 acres of which have been graded and irrigation has been installed. Phase IV will include the addition of 50 acres to be rough-graded in the summer of 1997 and a new collection and recovery pond for irrigation flows. The last phase will include an additional 120 acres over the next few years as the site grows to complete build-out.

This project is unique as it is designed to recover all run-off from the nursery area and reuse it in order to conserve fertilizers and other nutrients applied to the water system for the plants. Also, it is used to capture the first-flush drainage during storms by using weirs to divert the flow around the ponds under higher flows in order to improve and minimize downstream impacts from runoff of the developed area.

The project included a major detention pond for storm flows which bypass the project and mitigation of those flows to lessen the natural peaks.

An additional project for this facility along with the design of the irrigation systems and the drainage and grading of the site, has been the design and construction of an 89-foot span, 24-foot wide bridge over the Putah South Canal. This is a pre-stressed I-beam construction which will carry irrigation returns and fresh supply water and other utilities across the canal. The bridge required extensive coordination with the Bureau of Reclamation in Sacramento. The entire project has been under the review of Solano County.

The project also includes the development of over 5 acres of new wetlands onsite through the construction of a retention berm.

Hines Nursery Lagoon Valley
Location: Vacaville, California

Work was performed in several phases to develop a primary nursery facility in Lagoon Valley. The project consisted of approximately 200 acres. The project was one of the first designs to use the concept of capturing the first-flush drainage during storms by using weirs to divert the flow around the ponds under higher flows in order to improve and minimize downstream impacts from runoff of the developed area. Engineering work also included the processing of a water quality permit, the design of pump stations and grading.

Santa Clara Conference and Convention Center
Location: Santa Clara, California

Development consisting of a 220,000 square foot conference/convention center, 500-room hotel, 300,000 square foot techmart, and 18-hole golf course, including a pedestrian/golf cart bridge. Engineering services included grading, drainage, utilities, plans and specifications for a 30-acre main site and 20-acre golf course parking area, structural plans and specifications for 1,000 car parking, structure and pedestrian/golf cart bridge and Engineer of Work and Assessment District Engineer.

This is the largest project ever attempted by the City of Santa Clara Redevelopment Agency, the City of Santa Clara and the Open Space Authority. Our work involved coordination of our design with Ellerbe Associates, HNTB Architects, Robert Graves Golf Course Architect, and the three "owners" involved.

EZ-8 Motel
Location: Fairfield, California

A 2-acre, 100 room motel site with 102 parking stalls. Engineering services included public street improvements, site improvements, utility design (storm, water and sewer), topographic survey, structural design of sound walls, crib will design, and coordination with PG&E for the relocation of a gas line.

Cypress Hotel
Location: Cupertino, California

Preparation of site improvement plans, specifications and estimates including grading, drainage and utility plans for an 8-story, 224-room hotel with 1-1/2 levels of underground parking for the Kimpton Hotel & Restaurant Group. Also included in the scope of services were an ALTA and Site Topographical Map and Utility Capacity Survey.

San Jose Marriott City Center
Location: San Jose, California

Provided civil engineering and surveying services for this 27-story, 504-room hotel with 2 levels of underground parking, located at the intersection of Market Street and San Carlos Street.

Engineering services for this project included preparation of plans, specifications and estimates for the site including grading, drainage and utility plans. Work also included coordination with Caltrans to obtain an Encroachment Permit for improvements to utilities in Market Street and San Carlos Street and construction administration assistance.

Highlands Inn
Location: Carmel, California

Provided site improvement design for Highlands Inn Hotel Resort located in the Carmel Highlands five miles south of Carmel. Work started with an existing conditions survey of the utilities and infrastructure. Working with the project team, we developed a new plan for the Highlands Inn expanding to 145 units. C+D was responsible for coordinating the site engineering, utilities and infrastructure with the architectural and landscape improvements. The project was completed in two phases: the initial reconstruction of the 145 units in 1985 and a recent conversion to timeshare units in 2001.

Marriott Towne Place Suites
Location: San Jose, California

Scope of work included design, mapping, coordination with the City of San Jose, and construction staking for this 2-acre Marriott Hotel project. Design included grading, paving and utilities, as well as street improvements to Saratoga Boulevard and coordination with various utilities.

Salinas Auto Mall
Location: Salinas, California

Design of infrastructure and onsite improvements for nine automobile dealerships on a 40-acre site. Infrastructure improvements included mapping, detention basins, new road system, and utilities. Onsite improvements included grading, oil-grease separators, utilities, paving and storm drainage. All designs were completed to City of Salinas standards and required coordination with the City of Salinas, the separate owners, and the architect.

Dealerships included: Toyota, Hyundai, Buick, Pontiac, GMC, Dodge, Chrysler, Plymouth, Ford, Lincoln, Mercury, Mitsubishi, Jeep and Nissan.
