Santa Clara County Main Jail
Location: San Jose, California

An eight-story addition to an existing three-story jail in the San Jose Civic Center. Engineering services included the development of the utility master plan, the reconstruction of frontage improvements, the relocation of utility services to the existing jail, and site grades and drainage.

The project schedule required design to proceed during construction. Existing utilities were relocated while keeping the existing jail in full time service.

California Youth Authority Facility N.A. Chaderjian School
Location: Stockton, California

A 600-bed institution for the California Department of the Youth Authority. Engineering services included all civil design from pre-schematic through construction support phases including domestic and fire water supply, storm drainage, sanitary sewer, site grading, and dimensional control.

Santa Clara County Transit Maintenance Facility - Agnew
Location: San Jose, California

Site and building improvements for a key maintenance facility for the Santa Clara County Transit System. The 90-acre main maintenance Agnew facility on Highway 237 in north San Jose included a major and minor repair facility, a terminal building, an energy center and a bus wash facility.

Engineering services included civil and structural design, preparation of contract documents, cost estimates and construction consultation.

Santa Clara County Maintenance Facility - San Martin
Location: San Martin, California

Site and building improvements for a key maintenance facility for the Santa Clara County Transit System. The south County site in San Martin included a minor repair facility, a terminal building, a fueling facility and a bus wash facility.

Engineering services included civil and structural design, preparation of contract documents, cost estimates and construction consultation.

Vacaville Corporation Yard
Location: Vacaville, California

This project involved site engineering for the expansion of the City's existing Corporation Yard to include a new transit facility. The improvements include bus parking, site utilities (sewer, water, storm), compressed natural gas (CNG), slow fuel islands and a transit administration building. The work scope also included the master planning of future maintenance facilities within the 6-acre expansion site.

Fairfield Maintenance Facility
Location: Fairfield, California

This project involved the design and preparation of construction drawings for the City of Fairfield Bus Maintenance Facility located at the City Corporation Yard. This project included 3 double-bays, shop area, warehouse, parts department, offices, fuel island with underground storage, computerized access control gates and automated bus washing facility.

Our work included the civil site work, surveys, structural design and preparation of documents for the bus wash mechanical equipment.

David Grant CMF Replacement Hospital
Travis Air Force Base, Solano County, California

This work included site improvements for the 110 acre site. The project site and utility improvements included parking facilities for over 1,000 vehicles, primary access and circulation roads, 1/4 million cubic yards of import material to create a 2nd floor access to the medical facility, 1/2 miles of off-site 10" diameter sewer line, water supply system from three independent points of supply, a 600,000 gallon water storage tank, a 90,000 sewage emergency holding tank, a neutralized hazardous waste sewer collection and storage system, extensive use of reinforced concrete retaining walls up to 20' in height, surveys and utility coordination.

This project was completed on schedule and under budget.

Kaiser Permanente Medical Center
Location: Fremont, California

Construction of a new hospital at an existing 25-acre medical office building site. Project included removing existing parking lots and construction of the hospital, central plant and 900 parking spaces.

Coordination with existing site improvements and design of new medical office building designed as a separate project. Extensive site utility modifications were required to meet requirements of the existing facility and two new projects. Project phasing was necessary to maintain site parking requirements during construction.

Kaiser Permanente Niles East Medical Bldg.
Location: Fremont, California

Site work design and surveying for a 55,000 sq. ft. MOB. Project included removal of existing parking lots and relocation of utilities to serve existing buildings. Coordination with existing site improvements and new hospital under design during the same time period.

Alameda County Medical Center - Highland Hospital
Location: Oakland, California

A new six story, 136,000 square foot "Critical Care" facility and adjacent 400-space on-grade parking lot, and a five-level, 200,000 square foot parking garage. The project was built over an existing parking lot and was an expansion of an existing inner City hospital facility on a very hilly site. The work included extensive "flatwork" to match existing City and Hospital improvements, the replacement of 600 LF of service driveway, and the provision for parking structure entrance and exit ramps, ambulance and emergency drop-off areas and parking, and morgue and police parking areas. C+D also designed retaining walls, staircases, a utility tunnel bridge, terraced planter areas and extensive ADA improvements, including ramps and crossings.

Major improvements to and/or replacement of existing potable and fire water, storm drain and sewer utilities were required in an area of extensive inner City development. New electrical power and steam facilities also had to be brought on-line with minimal disruption to critical care services being rendered within the Hospital. C+D provided construction staking and on-call construction support and observation activities during construction of the project.

Child Development Center
Location: Travis Air Force Base, California

Design of site improvements around a new daycare center at the north edge of the air force base family housing area. The project included the design of parking lot and grading of play yard improvements and the relocation of several utility lines that crossed through the building site.

Location: Travis Air Force Base, California

Civil site improvements around this new simulator training center. The project included the design of 40 stalls of parking, various utility relocations, new utility services and frontage improvements with bus turnout.

Co-located Club
Location: Travis Air Force Base, California

Design of site and access road improvement plans and construction administration assistance services for new combined officer and enlisted club. The $3,600,000 construction project included the design of 350 stalls of parking in a circular layout as well as storm, sewer and water systems to serve the new club.

Location: Beale Air Force Base, California

Topographic surveying and civil site engineering improvements including utility demolition and new underground utilities, grading and paving plans for buildings, parking lots and modifications to existing adjacent roadways.

Yuma Proving Grounds
Location: Yuma Proving Grounds, Arizona

Support and Maintenance: Design of 18.5 acre site including support and maintenance building, fire station, gun tube storage, dispatch building, access roads, motor pool parking, POV parking, materials storage areas and fuel dispensing station. A new access roadway one-half mile in length was part of the project.

Armament Operations Center: Design of 3.3 acre site including administration building and POV parking. Site improvement design included site planning, grading and paving design, utility design including fire, domestic and sanitary water.

Addition to Combined Central Plant
Location: Fort Huachuca, Arizona

Addition and associated sitework; grading and drainage to conform to existing constructed boundary conditions and drainage patterns, utilities, H/C line profiles, parking lot and roadway revisions, topographic surveys. The project required the use of M-Caces Gold software for the preparation of cost estimates.

Fairfield Post Office
Location: Fairfield, California

This 20,000 square foot post office building is on a 3-acre site in downtown Fairfield and is owned by the City and leased to the U.S. Postal Service. A storm drainage pump station was required to avoid a major telephone system. The site improvements were designed to accommodate a suppressed truck dock. The project required a high degree of coordination with the architect and was designed to U.S.P.S. specifications.

Primary services included a boundary survey, parcel map, legal descriptions, site grading and drainage plans and storm drainage pump station design.

Oakland Post Office
Location: Oakland, California

This project included the preparation of plans and specifications for grading, paving and sitework, landscape and irrigation plans, fueling facilities and electrical plans for yard areas. Access and circulation issues were also involved in this project.

This project involved the resolution of boundary and topographic information for parking and sitework, grading, drainage, and utility extension. This project had significant challenges for circulation and access for local traffic circulation issues.

Visalia Post Office
Location: Visalia, California

This 9,178 square foot, single story facility is on an existing USPS owned site. The project required full architectural and engineering services to prepare and complete construction drawings and specifications. The project required a high degree of coordination with the architect and was designed to U.S.P.S. specifications. Coordination with the City of Visalia was also required for frontage improvements. Primary services included a topographic map and boundary survey, site grading and drainage and construction administration assistance including shop drawing review.

Stateline Post Office
Location: Kingsbury Grade, Nevada

This project involved the preparation of onsite drainage, construction staking, legal descriptions and site plan. This project was particularly challenging due to the steep site slope and the extremely restrictive grading regulations in the Lake Tahoe Basin. As a result, this was designed with two-story units on the side near the parking area and a one-story unit on the frontage. Postal operators utilized the first floor with retail on the second floor.

San Jose City College
Location: San Jose, California

Creegan + D'Angelo provided civil/site/roadway, parking consulting and structural engineering services for the Northeast Quadrant Construction Project at San Jose City College.

The improvements included new streets, intersection, utilities, surface parking, Student Services Center (68,000 sf), Library (53,000 sf), new Parking Structure (180,000 sf, 4-story, 630 cars), and Central Utilities Plant that functions as a central facility for the distribution of electricity, heating and cooling to the entire campus.

The firm is also preparing design-build bridging documents for site civil improvements and grading/wet utility plans for a new gymnasium and the demolition of existing infrastructure to make way for the new gym and hardscape surfaces.

Solano Community College
Location: Vallejo, California

Creegan + D’Angelo provided civil site engineering and master plan development for this new 10-acre Community College site. The 44,000 square foot facility includes classrooms, a lecture hall, computer laboratory, bookstore distribution space, youth theatre rehearsal space, art exhibit areas and outdoor spaces for study and relaxation.

Work involved the design for the grading, drainage, sewer and water services, the primary and secondary access entries and 200 car parking lot for the first phase of development.

South Lake Tahoe Community College
Location: South Lake Tahoe, California

Our work included all sitework, access roads, utility structure, drainage, grading, and utilities to serve the new community college campus in South Lake Tahoe. It was particularly important with regard to working with the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency, the Lahontan Water Quality Control Board, and the City of South Lake Tahoe in regard to sensitive environmental erosion and drainage issues.

The project also included, in addition to the main campus, a child development center, computer laboratory, and performing arts theater.

Brewery, Winery and Food Pilot Plant
Location: University of California Davis, California

Creegan + D'Angelo provided civil engineering services in the development of the exterior site improvements of this new facility at the UC Davis campus. The buildings house the small-scale Teaching and Research Winery, the Anheuser-Busch Pilot Brewery and the Food Science Laboratory and Pilot Food Processing Plant. The project received certification for LEED Platinum.

A pollution prevention plan for construction activities was prepared for the project. An erosion control plan was prepared for construction and long-term stormwater management. The exterior civil site improvements incorporate grassy swales and detention areas using native grasses for stormwater flow control and water quality management. The total average annual rainfall will be collected in aboveground storage for irrigation reuse. Recycled portland cement concrete, asphaltic concrete and aggregate base were reused for foundation material beneath roadways and walks. Concrete used for exterior areas use high content flyash to improve solar reflection.

C+D prepared an innovation in design study for using pigmented asphalt coatings to reduce the “non-roof heat island” effect of black pavements.

Center for Comparative Medicine
Location: University of California Davis, California

Civil design of site and utility improvements to serve a new 3-story laboratory building and large animal wing addition at the existing UC Davis Primate Center. Work included new parking facilities, utility extension and relocations, and design of a 1.8 acre foot storm water retention pond for the increased runoff.

This project is unique in that all storm water runoff had to be retained and percolated and evaporated onsite due to the relatively flat area and lack of defined offsite disposal channels for storm drainage.

Work also involved construction administration assistance for the site utility review and other construction related services.

Institute of Regeneration Medicine
Location: University of California San Francisco, Parnassus Campus

Creegan + D'Angelo provided civil engineering services in the development of the new Institute of Regeneration Medicine Building on the UCSF Parnassus Campus. Scope of work consisted of the preparation of site civil improvement plans for a new elevated medical/research building including design of on-site grading, temporary and permanent access roadway with site retaining walls, soil stabilization piers, storm drainage, potable water, fire water service, sanitary sewer system to serve the building; and frontage improvements along Medical Center Way.

Stanford University Alumni Center
Location: Palo Alto, California

Construction of a 100,000 square foot Alumni Center near the Frost Amphitheater on the Stanford University Campus on Galvez Street. Site work included the design of grading and site utilities including steam and chilled water; rear courtyard, street frontage improvements consisting of curb, gutter and sidewalk; and vehicular service entry and parking for the building.

Gentry Meadowlands School
Location: Vacaville, California

Grading plan for a 7-acre elementary school site including parking lot, playground, landscaping areas, building sidewalks and storm drainage. Coordinated work with other design professionals and completed plans ahead of schedule.

Engineering services included coordination with architect and school district, plans and specifications for grading and storm drainage, cost estimates and assistance during bidding.

The school was adjacent to a major city drainage canal requiring the project to be engineered for building above any potential flood level.

Lawler Ranch (Crescent) Elementary School
Location: Suisun City, California

The work performed on this project included mapping, parceling, grading, drainage, and utility connections for a complete new school. We formed a design team with the architect, as well as with the mechanical and electrical engineers, and handled local coordination with the various cities for infrastructure, circulation and sitework.

Rancho Solano School
Location: Fairfield, California

A 9.4 acre site grading and drainage plan for a new school. Project included utilities, storm drainage, special roof drain system, sanitary sewer, water and design of the relocation of City of Suisun City water line.

Engineering services included site, boundary and topographic surveys; grading and utility plans; cost estimates; civil portion of specifications; and coordination with soils engineer.

The expansive soils on the site had to be removed and reused in non-critical areas; special grading near Putah South Canal had to be done; an existing creek through the site had to be put in the storm drain system; and a special sanitary sewer main was installed offsite which resulted in a grading cost savings.

Site development plans for a two acre site for 3,800 square foot fire station, parking lot and circulation for 10 cars, access drives from Airway Boulevard and Taxiway-1, and yard recreation area. Design included onsite grading, drainage and underground utilities.

Fire Station #4 - Del Valle & Bernal
Location: Pleasanton, California

Site development plans for a fire station and administrative facility located on a two acre site including parking and access drives. Street improvements were required for approximately 650 linear feet of Del Valle Parkway including pavement, curb and gutter, storm drainage, sanitary sewer and water stubs.
