San Francisco International Airport Lot DD Garage
Location: San Francisco, California

San Francisco International Airport needed to build a 3,200-car, multi-level parking garage only 10 km from the San Andreas fault. The garage -- constructed on behalf of the City and County of San Francisco -- would initially be used by United Airlines employees. Later it would provide public parking.

Since the garage would serve two different groups of users, the design challenge was this: Create a garage that would help employees get in and out quickly during peak travel times, while providing future users with easy search patterns and freedom to maneuver.

As Parking Consultant, Civil and Transportation Engineer, and Structural Engineer for this project, C+D engineers applied their considerable expertise in the design of garages that will provide long term service for multiple users, maximized parking layout efficiency to reduce structure size and lower unit costs, and made on-site and off-site traffic circulation and access improvements. Structural engineering included the latest "Performance Based Design" to insure operations and function, even after a large San Andreas Fault earthquake. Santa Clara Convention Center
Location: Santa Clara, California

A 510,000 SF parking structure with two suspended levels and one at grade level of parking. Total capacity is 1,560 cars. The structure consists of precast double tees, cast-in-place concrete girders and column, and pile foundations.

San Jose Municipal Garage
Location: San Jose, California

The structure is a 240,000 square foot parking garage with two supported levels of parking and one at-grade level of parking. Total capacity is 730 cars with the provision for three additional levels of parking.

C+D provided overall management of the design team including architectural, structural, electrical, mechnical, and civil disciplines. Preparation of civil and structural contract drawings and specifications, as well as project cost estimates assistance during bidding, award and construction consultation.

The structure is constructed with 60' precast, prestressed concrete tee beams supported by concrete girders and columns. The foundation is provided by precast prestressed concrete piles.

San Jose City College Student Parking
Location: San Jose, California

San Jose City College selected C+D to provide Civil, Structural and Parking Consultation services for the design of a new parking structure. Working with AEDIS Architecture, C+D developed a 4 level, 3 bay structure with a central ramp and 2 way circulation. Cast in place post tensioned concrete provides column free interior space and reinforced concrete shearwalls provide strength and ductility to resist earthquake forces. Differential settlement is minimized by precast post tensioned concrete piles.The 192,000 S.F. structure provides space for 612 cars.
