Parking Garage at Lot DD San Francisco International Airport
Location: San Francisco, California

Working with the Bureau of Architecture and Bureau of Engineering, we completed the functional layout, structural design, graphics, off-site traffic engineering peer review of all disciplines and redesign of lighting layout for a 3,250-space, seven-level parking garage on Lot DD.


Pacific Plaza Parking Garage
Emeryville, California

The parking structure at Pacific Park Plaza was designed and constructed using cast-in-place post-tensioned concrete girders and slabs, with concrete shear wall lateral force resisting system. Eight hundred parking spaces are provided for the adjacent 30 story condominium tower on an internal single helix circulation on sloping decks. The internal circulation and prestressed concrete structure are a very efficient, provide the desired level of service, and are the most economical solution for this residential use.


Greater Rochester International Airport
Location: Rochester, N.Y.

Provided A/E services, transportation, engineering and inspection of post-tensioned cast-in-place concrete for 1,604-space, three-level garage plus 1, 163 spaces of surface parking.


San Jose City College Student Parking
Location: San Jose, California

San Jose City College selected C+D to provide Civil, Structural and Parking Consultation services for the design of a new parking structure. Working with AEDIS Architecture, C+D developed a 4 level, 3 bay structure with a central ramp and 2 way circulation. Cast in place post tensioned concrete provides column free interior space and reinforced concrete shearwalls provide strength and ductility to resist earthquake forces. Differential settlement is minimized by precast post tensioned concrete piles.The 192,000 S.F. structure provides space for 612 cars.


San Jose Municipal Garage
Location: San Jose, California

The structure is a 240,000 square foot parking garage with two supported levels of parking and one at-grade level of parking. Total capacity is 730 cars with the provision for three additional levels of parking.

C+D provided overall management of the design team including architectural, structural, electrical, mechnical, and civil disciplines. Preparation of civil and structural contract drawings and specifications, as well as project cost estimates assistance during bidding, award and construction consultation.

The structure is constructed with 60' precast, prestressed concrete tee beams supported by concrete girders and columns. The foundation is provided by precast prestressed concrete piles.


Larkspur Ferry Terminal
Location: Larkspur, California

The Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District operates ferry service between the City of Larkspur and the City of San Francisco. Patrons from across Marin County drive to the terminal and often find the current surface parking lot at or near capacity. Future GGBHT plans include the addition of high-speed boats to the current fleet resulting in greater capacity and increased convenience. To solve the parking issues, C + D provided a Parking Facility Improvements Study with both short term and long term solutions.

Components of the study included:

  • Surface parking and structured parking alternatives at the terminal and remote site.
  • Automated parking systems including intelligent roadway signs.
  • Parking Revenue study.
  • Traffic impact to main intersections and feeder roads.
  • Preliminary environmental impacts.
  • Cost estimating and construction schedules.
  • PS&Es for a remote surface parking lot.

Subsequent to the study, C+D provided design of a 250-space transit parking lot along an abandoned railroad right-of-way. This work included grading, drainage, site lighting, a pedestrian bridge, removal of existing rails and project signage.


David Grant Medical Center / Veteran Administration Hospital Expansion Project
Location: Travis Air Force Base, California

Design and construction administration assistance for two 55 stall parking lots and 1,000 new parking stalls in six (6) lots; water, sewer and storm drainage infrastructure and grading detail along with existing and proposed utility location and relocation planning. The phased project also included the design of a separate 35 stall parking lot, site improvements and utility services for a new 4,500 square foot office building used for the Air Force/VA Joint Planning Group offices.
