Guadalupe Corridor Light Rail
Location: Santa Clara, California

The Guadalupe Corridor is a multi-modal transportation project which features a 20-mile light rail transit system, a 9-mile freeway/expressway, and a 10-block downtown transit mall. The project links the residential areas of southern San Jose with the major employment areas of northern Santa Clara.

These project segments included the design of east and west bound light rail extension, roadway widening, and passenger boarding station platforms. Also included were structural modifications to the Lafayette Street and Southern Pacific Railroad grade separation, structural modification and widening of the existing bridge over San Tomas Aquino Creek, and relocation of the sanitary sewer lift station at Great America Parkway.

Engineering services included realignment study and preliminary engineering to minimize right-of-way acquisition costs; topographic surveys; trackway alignment geometrics and calculations; complete contract documents consisting of plans, specifications, and estimated including track embedment widening, bridge structure modifications and widening, sanitary sewer lift station, grading and drainage, traffic signals and signal modifications, traffic signing and striping, utility relocations, utility structures and modifications.

Assistance to the Santa Clara County Transportation Agency and the City of Santa Clara During bidding and award. We also provided construction consultation.


Illinois Street Intermodal Bridge
Location: San Francisco, California

Design-Build Project of new 520-foot long railroad, freight and truck bridge with 85-feet base span located over Island Creek on Illinois Street. Engineering provided for Port of San Francisco with Shimmick Construction. Project consists of a steel girder combined rail and truck bridge with movable span across navigable channel. Movable span section was bascule type system with hydraulic piston driven cantilever section. Main bridge consisted of steel girder spans supported by concrete pile cap with battered deep piles.


Marine Fabrication Facility
Location: Vallejo, California

A heavy industrial waterfront facility designed for the construction of off-shore oil exploration platforms. This project included a railroad spur line from Southern Pacific's main line, several shop and fabrication buildings, and site grading, paving, drainage, and utility improvements.

Engineering services included the feasibility study and preliminary design; civil and structural design; plans, specifications and cost estimates; construction administration; and surveys.


Harstad-Coates Industrial Park
Location: Cordelia, California

A 25-acre, seven parcel industrial park in the southwest quadrant of the I-80/I-680 interchange. This project included the design of a spur rail line from Southern Pacific's mail line to allow rail access to all building sites.


Firestone Business Park
Location: Salinas, California

Conversion of the 2,000,000 square foot Firestone Plant to a warehouse, manufacturing and business office facility. Engineering services included development site studies for piggyback rail loading facility.
